Going through Apprenticeship
Interested in joining apprenticeship? If so, talk with your small group leader to get the ball rolling! Already decided to join apprenticeship? That's an awesome decision and one that we don't take lightly.
Small Group leaders take their apprentices through our F.I.R.S.T curriculum for 6 weeks. Once done, you will graduate and be welcomed into the leadership team if desired! F.I.R.S.T is an acronym we use to explain 5 of the values (Following God, Invitation, Risk, Sitting At The Feet of Jesus, & Togetherness) that InterVarsity finds to be paramount to following Jesus. Apprentices are students that have been introduced to the community, become a member during the semester or year, and are in the process of learning what it means to take another step in the mission of God on campus. Below are all the resources and documents that pertain to our Apprenticeship Training. |
FIRST: Lessons in Apprenticeship
1. Follow God's Leading (Lordship)
Follow Jesus in all parts of life. Be yoked to Jesus. Allow Him to lead you in every aspect of life and to use all of your life for the kingdom (your major, free time, resources, and abilities).
2. Risk for the Kingdom (Faith)
Regularly step out in faith. Step out of your comfort zones and put yourself in situations where you have to trust God. “Ambitious people take on more than what they are capable of doing; in doing this they experience the power and grace of God”. –Brian Sanders
3. Sitting at the Feet of Jesus (Devotion & OIA)
Regularly step out in faith. Step out of your comfort zones and put yourself in situations where you have to trust God. “Ambitious people take on more than what they are capable of doing; in doing this they experience the power and grace of God”. –Brian Sanders
